Concrete benches are popular fixtures in garden stones around the world. Such embellishments can often be found in gardens along walking paths. They can be a focal point or a place to sit and read a book. Concrete is durable, long lasting and weather resistant. A bench can be completed in one weekend, including concrete drying time.

Instructions as follows:

Firstly, measure a section of plywood 4 feet 2 inches long by 2 feet 2 inches wide. Use a pencil and straight edge to mark cut lines. Use a skill saw to cut out the rectangle. Set aside.

Secondly, measure two more plywood rectangles 2 feet 2 inches long by 1 foot 6 inches wide. Mark lines with pencil and straight edge. Cut using skill saw. Set aside.

Thirdly, measure and mark sections on 2-by-4 inch boards: 2 that are 4 foot 2 inches long, 6 that are 2-foot-long and 4 that are 1 foot 6 inches long. Mark cut lines with pencil and straight edge. Cut with skill saw.

Fourthly, attach the 4-foot 2-inch sections of 2-by-4 board to 4-foot 2-inch edges of plywood using nails. Attach 2-foot sections of 2 by 4 to 2-foot-long edges of plywood. Attach 1-foot 6-inch lengths of 2 by 4 to 1-foot 6-inch edges of plywood. Edges must be flush and fit must be tight. This will form the seat and leg molds for the bench pieces.

Fifthly, combine concrete mix and water in mixing drilling machine per manufacturer's instructions. Mixed concrete should be the consistency of peanut butter.
